PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-component developer that contains a carrier maintaining charging property to a toner in a high level for a long time without causing carrier deposition on a photoreceptor and responsible to a current long-life image forming device and that is capable of forming an image of high picture quality with high image density and high sharpness. SOLUTION: The two-component developer 1 contains a toner 3 and a carrier 2 having a resin coating layer 5 formed on the surface of a core material 4, wherein the resin coating layer 5 contains alumina particles 6 and controlled in such a manner that the X-ray intensity of the alumina particles 6 by fluorescent X-ray analysis is lower than the X-ray intensity of a metal most included in the core material 4 by fluorescent X-ray analysis.
