PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an immersion type ultrasonic flaw detector capable of attenuating a reflected ultrasonic wave up to a level causing no trouble in ultrasonic flaw inspection while suppressing a rise in cost. SOLUTION: In the immersion type ultrasonic flaw detector equipped with a water tank 2 and an ultrasonic probe 4 and constituted so as to immerse the ultrasonic probe 4 in the water housed in the water tank 2 along with a specimen S to perform ultrasonic flaw inspection, the side wall surface 21 and the base 22 of the water tank 2 are coated with an attenuation material for attenuating the reflected ultrasonic wave WA.
