PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing roasted coffee beans capable of shortening roasting time, and sufficiently swelling coffee bean texture so that coffee extracted solution prepared from the roasted coffee beans may have smooth rich taste and excellent flavor. SOLUTION: This method for producing the roasted coffee beans which have roasting color of 13.0-35.0 at L value is a half hot air type or direct fire roasting method. The method comprises a process of roasting coffee raw beans while reducing a heat source range so as to fit the rotation direction of a roaster drum with rising of roasting temperature in a roaster, and a process of rapidly cooling the roasted coffee beans.
