The handle has a lower shell (3) fastened at an upper shell, where the lower shell comprise a retainer area (4) that is formed at the upper shell. A sealing compound is arranged in the retainer area, and includes an exposed sealing compound surface, where the sealing compound surrounds an electronic unit (7). The upper shell has a projection that extends from an inner side of the upper shell towards the retainer area through the sealing compound surface, where the projection is connected with the upper shell as a single piece. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a door handle of a motor vehicle.
