The unit (100) has a base plate (110) that is arranged between windscreen and a windscreen support. A sliding part (120) is guided at the base plate and provided for fixing a windbreak. The sliding part is moved to an installation position against a sliding edge and is locked at the base plate in the installation position. Two locking mechanisms (130, 130`) are provided between the base plate and the sliding part and allow the sliding part to be moved in the direction of the windshield while blocking the movement in a sliding position. An independent claim is also included for a method for fixing a windbreak at a windscreen of a motor vehicle.
