Materials and methods for treating tissue defects in human or animal tiss ues using implantable cells are described. Further, culture techniques and f actors for enhancing these procedures, and cell survival and adaptation are described. Many of the tissue defects may be treated with autologous cells, while applications involving non-autologous cells or stem cells are also des cribed.
