PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the direct measurement of the temperature of core coolant in a reactor and also make it possible to monitor the reactor without changing the design of a reactor vessel. SOLUTION: In a device for measuring the temperature of the core coolant which flows in a core 2 of the reactor; aγ-ray thermometer 4 equipped with a temperature measurement section 7 placed below the lower end of the core 2 and aγ-ray heat evolution detection section 6 between the upper and lower ends of the core 2, a cable 9 for transmitting signals output by the temperature measurement section 7 and an output signal processing means 10 for receiving the signals and calculating the local temperature of the coolant in the position where the temperature measurement section 7 is placed are provided.
