PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a still picture switching position retrieving apparatus of a disk in which position information of a switching point of time of a still picture displayed at the time of reproduction is displayed quickly and a load of a disk evaluator can be lightened largely. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with a reading means 4 reading management information about video data including animation and a still picture recorded in a user data area from the disk 1 recorded in a management area, a discriminating means 9 receiving the management information read by the reading means 4 obtaining title information of the video data, and discriminating whether still picture information is included in the video data or not from address data of a head video object unit in cell information constituting each title, and a control means 16 in which when the still picture information is included, information of a reproduction position time of the still picture information is obtained from the control information, also, title numbers of respective still picture information and a time of its switching position are displayed on a display screen by controlling a display means 17.
