PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support structure of a valve characteristic change mechanism capable of suppressing change of a valve characteristic due to thermal expansion. SOLUTION: The valve characteristic change mechanism 20 is provided with a control shaft 22, an operation mechanism 23 for adjusting its axial position, and a change mechanism body 30 for changing a valve characteristic of an engine valve in response to its relative position to the control shaft 22. The operation mechanism 23 is fixed to a cylinder head 12 and the change mechanism body 30 is supported to the cylinder head 12. The control shaft 22 is formed of a material having a thermal expansion coefficient smaller than that of the cylinder head 12. The cylinder head 12 is provided with a support wall 16 for restricting movement of the change mechanism body 30 in the axial direction of the control shaft 22. A position adjustment member 40 formed of a material having a thermal expansion coefficient larger than that of the control shaft 22 is interposed between the support wall 16 and the change mechanism body 30.
