PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently execute reliable restoration and backup independent of an operating system in a short time in case of disk failure. SOLUTION: An error detection part 4 constituting a disk controller 1 ordinarily monitors read/write of data of a disk 2, detects, abnormality, and gives warning or error. An error determination part 5 determines the warning or error as a disk failure. An error site retrieval part 6 retrieves the site of disk failure (error) in the disk 2, and specifies a partition or block in which the error occurs. A data recovery part 7 recovers the specified partition or block, and backs up the block or partition recovered from the error by a backup device 3.
