PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice cooker in which convection can be started with a rise in water temperature in a pot under the accomplishment of the initial process of a fixed execution time and earlier switching off by an error in judgement can be prevented. SOLUTION: The rice cooker executes the initial process A in which the convection of water in the pot 11 begins gradually and the main process B in which the heating power is increased after the end of the initial process A and the cooking up level reached in the pot 11 is detected based on the temperature information with a temperature sensor 18 to make a shift to steaming sequentially. The initial process A is executed continuously until the predetermined execution time t1 passes after the start of cooking the rice even when the detection temperature with the temperature sensor 18 indicates the detection of the cooking of the rice exceeding the ordinary cooking up temperature. The main process B contains a confirmation process B3 in which the heating power is lowered to monitor the following temperature gradient after the entry of the cooking completion estimating period B2 indicating a steep gradient in the detection temperature with the temperature sensor 18 via a rice cooking promotion period B1 showing a slow rising gradient so that the presence of the water is judged to see if whether the cooking up level is reached or not in the pot 11.
