The engine has a number of individual modules, and a chain-like module structure that appears like a rigid tube and serves as a load carrier when it is installed in a front edge of a wing of an aircraft. A rack and pinion gear and a retaining module are implemented in the chain-like module structure. The modules are switched-on and switched-off, where each module is a tube section (2) with a separating plate (6) in a center. Each module holds two pistons (3) that are connected with each other by a bar (5).
