Parking brake (10), especially for a motor vehicle, comprises a brake lever (12) mounted at one end in a pivot bearing (14) of a pivot bearing base (16) and connected via a brake mechanism (24) to at least one brake element of the parking brake. A releasable detent pawl gear with a toothed segment (36) and an interacting ratchet (38a) of a detent pawl (38) is arranged between the brake lever and the pivot bearing. The detent pawl is extended on its free end by a ratchet (38b) and the extended section (38c) has a support surface (38d) facing in the pivot direction of the detent pawl which prevents pivoting of the detent pawl in front of the toothed segment in a pivoted state of the ratchet when the parking brake is pulled beyond the front tooth of the toothed segment. |
