<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To center take-off type steering device capable of preventing hitting noises even when a guide shoe is formed of a metallic material by providing a member for absorbing shocks when the guide shoe collides with both ends of a long hole to a boot. <P>SOLUTION: This center take-off type steering device comprises a guide shoe 11 sliding in a long hole 10 formed along an axial lengthwise direction of a rack shaft 4 stored in a gear housing. Tie rods 8 move rightward and leftward according to the slide of the guide shoe 11, and a central portion of a boot 13 covering the tie rods 8 is nipped by a bolt 12 between the guide shoe 11 and each of inner ends of a pair of right and left tie rods 8. Collars 16 across a rack shaft 4, the guide shoe 11 and the boot 13 are fitted between the guide shoe 11 and the bolt 12, and between the boot 13 and the bolt 12.
