PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a cold cathode fluorescent lamp, capable of easily, inexpensively, and highly accurately adjusting luminance. SOLUTION: In this method for driving a cold cathode fluorescent lamp 10 in which an electric field is formed in a space facing an anode 14 and a cathode 17, and a phosphor 16 is excited and made to emit light by making electrons emit from the cathode 17, emission intensity of the phosphor 16 is controlled by a current between the anode and the cathode.
