PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink quantity detecting device which can detect the ink quantity of an ink fountain under a simple construction without adversely affecting an ink fluidity etc. of the ink fountain, even when the electrostatic capacity of the ink itself deteriorates due to a change in the physical property of the ink in the ink fountain over time. SOLUTION: The electrostatic capacity-type ink quantity detecting device 17 is mainly constituted of an inking roller 5 which is formed of a conductor and grounded, a doctor roller 4 which is formed of a conductor for regulating the ink quantity on the inking roller 5 arranged spaced as specified from the inking roller 5, a detecting electrode which is constituted of the doctor roller 4 as an ink quantity regulating member and detects the electrostatic capacity equivalent to the ink quantity of the ink fountain 10a formed between the inking roller 5 and the doctor roller 4, and an ink quantity detecting circuit 21 which electrically processes the electrostatic capacity detected by the doctor roller 4.
