A power transmission device comprising a transmission (1) capable of transmitting a power from an internal combustion engine to a front wheel side axle (2b) connected to front wheels with shiftable reduction gear ratios and a transfer device (8) capable of distributing the power through the transmission (1) to a rear wheel side axle (8) connected to rear wheels. The power transmission device further comprises a ring gear (4) fixedly disposed in a differential case (2a) meshed with the output gear (1d) of the transmission (1), a transmission gear (6) having a diameter smaller than that of the ring gear (4) fixedly disposed in the differential case (2a) adjacently to the ring gear (4), a transmitted gear (7) disposed with the ring gear (4) overlappingly in the radial direction and meshed with the transmission gear (6), and an input shaft (8a) of the transfer device (8) connected to the transmitted gear (7) non-rotatably relative to each other.
