<p>It is possible to reduce visual angle-dependency of gradation characteristic (color reproducibility) of a liquid crystal display device without increasing the number of divisions in a pixel division structure. The liquid crystal display device has a plurality of pixels each connected to a signal line via a switching element. Each of the pixels has a first sub pixel and a second sub pixel having different voltage-luminance characteristics for the signal voltage supplied from the signal line. The first sub pixel has a threshold value signal voltage lower than that of the second sub pixel. The pixels constitute color display pixels consisting of red pixels, green pixels, and blue pixels. When the area ratio of the first sub pixel in each of the red pixel, the green pixel, and the blue pixel are SR1, SG1, SB1, and the ON period ratio in one vertical scan period of the first sub pixel in each of the red pixel, the green pixel, and the blue pixel are TR1, TG1, TB1, the following relationship is satisfied: (SR1 × TR1) > (SG1 × TG1) > (SB1 × TB1). The present invention may be appropriately applied to a liquid crystal display device for a television.</p> |
