<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup apparatus wherein optical path separation is not performed in an outward optical path, reflection light from a surface of a protective layer is divided into two beams, a recording information signal and a control signal of the position of a recording surface spot are detected by one reflection beam from a recording surface and tilt detection is performed by a photoreceptor disposed in the vicinity of a light condensing point of the other beam from the surface of a recording layer; to provide a recording medium used for the same; and to provide an optical disk drive driving the recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical pickup apparatus A provided with an illumination system including a semiconductor laser light source 1 and an objective lens 5 and a detection system including light condensing functional elements 2, 3 and 4, a beam including reflection light of a spot formed on the recording surface 6a of the recording medium 6 by the illumination system and reflection light of the same beam from a protective layer surface 6b of the recording medium 6 is divided into two beams; the spot position control signal and the information signal are obtained by one beam and the tilt of the recording medium 6 is detected by the photoreceptor 9 disposed in the vicinity of the light condensing point of the reflection light of the other beam from the protective layer surface 6b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
