PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a clearance between a head element part and a magnetic disk using a heater and to reduce the risk of the collision of the head element part against the magnetic disk in loading/unloading. SOLUTION: In one form, when starting loading processing, an HDD 1 decides the ON/OFF of the heater 124 (S11). When the heater 124 is set to be ON, the HDD 1 sets the heater 124 to be OFF (S12). The HDD 1 starts turning of an actuator 16 while maintaining the heater 124 OFF (S13). When the heater 124 is set to be OFF, the heater 124 is maintained OFF, and the actuator 16 is moved from a stop position to the magnetic disk 11 (S13). When the loading processing is completed (S14), the next processing is started. Since the heater is OFF in loading, the risk of the collision of the head element part against the magnetic disk in loading is reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
