PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting method for a sheet member, which surely cuts the sheet member. SOLUTION: A sheet member 10 is placed on a placing surface 20a of a receiving table 20 having a flat placing surface 20a, and a linear blade 30 is pressed from the normal direction of the placing place 20a to thereby cut the sheet member 10. The placing surface 20a is provided with a plurality of grooves 21 lined vertically and laterally. The width and depth of grooves 21 are set so that the tip of the blade 30 enters the sheet member 21. Thus, although there is the risk of causing a gap between the blade 30 and the placing surface 20a not to surely cut the sheet member 10 when the grooves 21 are not provided, the blade 30 is moved to such a position that at least the tip part enters the grooves 21, whereby a gap is not caused between the blade 30 and the placing surface 20a to surely cut the sheet member 10.
