The lockbolt has a bolt shaft (5) protruding from a bolt head (4), and a tear-off shaft (6) extending from the bolt head in the form of an extension of the bolt shaft and connected to the bolt shaft at a preset breaking point. The tear-off shaft includes an elastic clamping element (8) that is adapted for clamping the lockbolt that is inserted into a through-hole so that the lockbolt is fastened in the through-hole due to clamping effect achieved with the element. The clamping element is shaped in the form of a ring that surrounds the tear-off shaft circumferentially. An independent claim is also included for a method of producing a lockbolt connection.
