A slider-zipper assembly for reclosable packaging in which the slider (14) is coupled to the top portions of the zipper parts (2, 4). The zipper can be either a flanged zipper (Fig. 3, 4) or a string (i.e., webless) zipper (Fig. 1). In one embodiment, the slider (14) has a pair of diverging (Fig. 2) profiled projections (38, 40) that fit in and interlock with respective profiled grooves (34, 36) in the zipper parts (2, 4). In another embodiment (Fig. 5), the slider (14') has a pair of diverging profiled grooves (50, 52) that receive and interlock with respective profiled projections (46, 48) that project upwardly from the zipper parts (2', 4'). Alternatively, the slider (14) could have one projection and one groove for interlocking with the respective zipper parts. The diverging profiles (38, 40) or grooves (50, 52) on the slider (14) cause adjacent sections of the zipper (2, 4) to open and close as the slider is moved in the zipper opening and closing direction, respectively. The projections on the slider could be discontinuous. <IMAGE> |
