PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod reducing a load for carrying and also capable of easily setting optimal balance. SOLUTION: This balance weight mechanism C is constituted by extending a thin tubular part 9B equipped with an injection port 9b and discharging port 9b of liquid for the balance weight from a bellows-like liquid-housing part 9A, housing the liquid-housing part 9A at the inside of the root rod end part of the root rod 1 and also installing the thin tubular part 9B by protruding from an opening 1a of the root rod end. retreating the thin tubular part 9B into the opening 1a of the root rod end by contracting the liquid-housing part 9A once and then releasing contracting force against the liquid-housing part 9A for taking up the liquid into the liquid-housing part 9A.
