<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively detect the abnormal approach of a car to avoid a contact situation. <P>SOLUTION: A multi-car elevator with two or more cars 1a, 1b provided in a travelable manner in a hoistway comprises rotating speed detectors 6a, 6b provided at hoisting machines 2a, 2b for driving the cars 1a, 1b, to detect the rotating speed of the respective hoisting machines 2a, 2b; absolute position detecting means 8a, 8b converting the rotating speed detected by the respective rotating speed detectors 6a, 6b into the absolute positions of the respective cars 1a, 1b; a relative distance computing means 9 computing the relative distance of the upper and lower cars 1a, 1b from the absolute positions of the respective cars 1a, 1b detected by the car absolute position detecting means 8a, 8b; and an operation control means 10 limiting the operation of the cars 1a, 1b when the relative distance reaches a predetermined distance or less. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
