PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a light-place contrast ratio of a plasma display panel. SOLUTION: The plasma display panel is provided with a front-face plate 1 aligning display electrodes 6 on a front-face substrate 5, and a rear-face plate 2 forming a ground layer 10 on the rear-face substrate 8 and barrier ribs 11 zoning discharge spaces 3, and forming phosphor layers 12 containing coloring pigment on the surface of the barrier ribs 11 and on the surface of the ground layer 10, with the front-face plate 1 and the rear-face plate 2 arranged in opposition. The phosphor layer 12 is provided with a first phosphor layer part formed on the surface of the barrier rib, a second phosphor layer part formed on the surface of the ground layer, and a third phosphor layer part at an interface area between the first phosphor layer part and the second phosphor layer part, with a ratio of coloring pigment contained in the second phosphor layer part set larger than that contained in the first phosphor layer part.
