PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color discrimination device which can discriminate colors of reading objects which carry similar colors with a sufficient precision. SOLUTION: The color discrimination device 1 irradiates a coin A with illumination light L1 emitted from white color LED 4. The color discrimination device which discriminates the color of the coin A based on return light L2 reflected from a detection range 7 of the coin A is equipped with: photo diodes 11a, 11b and 11c which simultaneously receive return light L2 for each red light, green light and blue light and output the output voltage signals V<SB>a</SB>, V<SB>b</SB>, and V<SB>c</SB>according to an intensity of each of red light, green light and blue light; differential amplifiers 15 and 16 which amplify the magnitude of output voltage signals V<SB>b</SB>and V<SB>a</SB>taking the output voltage signal V<SB>c</SB>as a reference voltage signal; and a differential amplifier 17 which amplifies and outputs the difference of the output signals from the differential amplifiers 15 and 16.
