The invention relates to a device (D) which is dedicated to processing data by means of spread spectrum coding for a multi-beam communication satellite (S) , in which each beam (B1-B6) is associated with a terrestrial cell (C1-C6) tha t is contained in a satellite footprint (ZC). The inventive device (D) compris es coding means (MC) which are used to: (i) associate (a) sets of spreading pseudocodes (J1-J4), differing in pairs, with adjacent cells from the footprint (ZC) and with signalling channels common to all of the cells (C1-C 6) in the footprint (ZC) and (b) identical sets of spreading pseudocodes with n on- adjacent cells from the footprint, said sets (J1-J4) being selected from amo ng the sets resulting from the subdivision of a group of spreading pseudocodes; and (ii) when data are to be diffused in one cell (C1) and/or common information data are to be diffused in all of the cells, modulate the spreading pseudocodes belonging to the set (J1) that is associated with said cell (C1) with the data to be diffused and, subsequently, modulate a carrier , having the same frequency (f) for all of the beams (B1-B6) of the satellite (S), with the modulated spreading pseudocodes such that the modulated carrie r is diffused in the direction of the cell (C1) or all of the cells (C1-C6) by means of the associated beam (B1).
