<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which neither blisters the toner when processing coated paper nor largely curls regular paper when processing. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus has a fixing component heated by a predetermined heater, and a fixing unit to fix the toner image on the recording paper inside a nip formed with the fixing component and a pressure component pressed on it. It has a discriminator to check whether the supplied recording paper is a coated paper sheet having a coated layer or a regular paper sheet not having a coated layer, and a controller to make the transfer spacing between the recording paper sheets smaller when the above discriminator finds that the recording paper is coated paper than when the recording paper is found to be regular paper in the discriminator. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
