PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of an image defect such as gloss streaks and to reduce sliding resistance even in a configuration where an image heating nip is extended in a twin belt type image heating apparatus. SOLUTION: In an image heating apparatus including a first endless belt 20 for heating an image T on a recording material S with a nip part N, a second endless belt 21 for forming the nip part between the first belt and the second belt, a first pressing pad 24 for pressing the first belt in the nit part, and a second pressing pad 27 for pressing the second belt in the nip part, surface roughness Rz on a surface of a belt contact face 24a of the first pressing pad 24 is set equal with or less than 20μm, and surface roughness Rz on a belt contact face 27a of the second pressing pad 27 is set equal with or more than 50μm and less than 300μm.
