METAL-MATRIX CARBON NANOTUBE COMPOSITE MATERIAL AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal-matrix carbon nanotube (CNT) composite material in which CNT is uniformly dispersed and which is free from sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) or its residue and also to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The metal-matrix CNT composite material can be manufactured by a metal-matrix CNT composite material manufacturing method comprising the following steps: a step of preparing a metal slurry using metal powder; a step of preparing a CNT suspension using CNT; a step of preparing a metal/CNT mixture slurry using the metal slurry and the CNT suspension; a step of preparing a green compact of metal/CNT mixture using the metal/CNT mixture slurry; and a step of sintering the green compact of metal/CNT mixture to obtain the metal-matrix CNT composite material. Moreover, PVA is used as a dispersant for CNT, and the PVA is added in an amount four or more times that of the CNT by weight ratio. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
