A treatment for paper, containing (A) a fluorine-containing polymer comprising repeating units derived from a fluorine-containing monomer (a) represented by the general formula (I): CH₂=C(-X)-C(=O)-Y-(CH₂)_m-Z-(CH₂)_n-Rf (I) wherein X is hydrogen, methyl, fluoro, chloro, CFX¹X² (wherein X¹ and X² are each hydrogen, fluoro, or chloro), or the like; Y is -O- or -NH-; Z is -S-, -SO-, or -SO₂-; Rf is fluoroalkyl having 1 to 6 carbon atoms; m is 1 to 10; and n is 0 to 10.
