<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of easily switching image display for a handicapped person by recognizing a sound generated by clicking a case of an operating section with a finger or the like. <P>SOLUTION: For example, in this figure, when a binarized signal S1 is generated, a waveform S1P having high level at a time tmin and a low level at a time tmax is generated as pattern detection by S1, and a binarized signal S2 is gated. As shown in the figure, a binarized signal S2 is gated with the waveform S1P and S1PG is output as a result of pattern detection. At this time, an unshown counter counts the binarized signal S1 as "1", and counts S1PG as "2".
