PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To connect a waveguide which has a ridge structure formed in a pseudophase matching type wavelength converting element and an optical fiber by a simple structure while reducing loss at a coupling part. SOLUTION: The wavelength converting element is held by a base substrate 16 where the wavelength converting element is fixed and a jig 17 increasing the joint area of an end surface where the waveguide 23 and optical fiber are optically coupled with each other, and a gap is formed around the waveguide 23. In concrete, a recessed part 24 is formed in the base substrate 16 by counter boring, the waveguide 23 and recessed part 24 are opposed to each other, and the wavelength converting element is fixed to the base substrate 16.
