PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which can print an image at a correct position by precisely detecting a position of a convex lens, and to provide a printing method. SOLUTION: The printer has a conveyance means (paper feeding roller 50) which conveys a lens sheet 10 with both a first plane where a plurality of lenses are formed and a second plane where a printing surface is formed in the longitudinal direction of the lens; a printing means (recording head 32) which scans on the second plane in a direction that intersects the longitudinal direction of the lens, and which prints an image according to an arrangement of the plurality of lenses onto the second plane; a first detecting means (scale 37 and optical sensor 38) which detects a position on a scanning route of the printing means; a control means (control part 100) which controls the position of the printing means on the basis of the detected result by the first detecting means; a second detecting means (optical sensor 40) which detects positions of the lenses formed on the first plane; and an adjusting means (CPU 101) which adjusts on the basis of the detected result by the second detecting means a position where the image is printed by the printing means.
