PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly settle parallel vibration and vibration in the pitch direction in the direction of floating height of a magnetic head slider, while stabilizing floating of the magnetic head slider, in a magnetic disk apparatus. SOLUTION: The magnetic disk apparatus is provided with a magnetic recording medium and the magnetic head slider 34 performing reading or writing of information floating on this magnetic recording medium plane. The magnetic head slider 34 is provided with a slider floating plane 1 and a magnetic transducer 12. The slider floating plane 1 is provided with a front pad 4 having a front rail plane 8 and a front step bearing plane 9, a rear pad 5 having a rear rail plane 10 and a rear step bearing plane 11, and a negative pressure groove 6 arranged between the front pad 4 and the rear pad 5. A vibration suppressing groove 13 which is formed more deeply than the rear rail plane 10 and in which the periphery is closed is provided at the rear rail plane 10. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
