A process for the production of an initiator for the oxidation of hydrocarbons comprises oxidation of a hydrocarbon in the liquid phase by means of an oxygen containing gas in the presence of a metal salt and oxidation of the hydrocarbon in the liquid phase by means of an oxygen containing gas in the presence of a partial quantity of the initial oxidation product from the earlier process steps. A process for the production of an initiator (I) for the oxidation of hydrocarbons comprises: (a) oxidation of a hydrocarbon in the liquid phase by means of an oxygen containing gas in the presence of a metal salt; (b) oxidation of a hydrocarbon, identical to that used in (A), in the liquid phase by means of an oxygen containing gas in the presence of a partial quantity of the oxidation product from (A) and; (c) oxidation of a hydrocarbon, identical to that used in (A), in the liquid phase by means of an oxygen containing gas in the presence of a partial quantity of the oxidation products from the earlier process steps whereby step (B) is repeated at least once and a partial amount of the oxidation product from an earlier process step is added. Independent claims are included for: (1) the resulting initiator (I) and; (2) oxidation products resulting from the use of the initiator (I). |
