<p>The procedure for receiving ballast water for ship, comprises treating the water received through outboard before its introduction into a ballast water tank (5). The water is filtered in cleaning stages (6). The contamination of each cleaning stage is measured and the filtered out residues are removed from the cleaning stage, after exceeding a pre-determined degree of contamination. The removed residues are collected and are given to the outboard. A producer station (12) produces disinfectant, which is added to the treated water. Fresh water is used in the production of the disinfectant. A part of the disinfectant is added to the received water. The quantity of disinfectant is determined based on the measured quantity.
