A bistable electrical switch, especially a holding relay, comprises a magnet system (2) with control coil (20) on a core shoulder (10) and a flap armature (12) on a pole (14) movable between open and closed positions on coil excitation. A permanent magnet (30) gives a main connection in the closed position and a magnetic shunt in the open position. The pole has a U-shaped end limb (15) surrounding the core shoulder with a gap (17) between their surfaces.
