PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet handling device unlikely to cause a sheet despite thick to incline aslant even if thick sheet is moved in the width direction on a transport path having a small radius of curvature. SOLUTION: A shift unit 108 is installed in a position downstream of the inlet roller couple 102 in this sheet handling device 100 and upstream of a branch point of a transport path leading to an upper tray 136 and a lower tray 137. The shift unit 108 moves a shift roller couple 105 apart at a certain distance in the sheet transporting direction in a consolidated condition to the direction across the sheet width so as to perform canceling of a transverse registration error of a sheet and setting of the shift amount for each sheet group.
