The method involves arranging a shut-off valve (11) in predetermined conditions in a long distance heating-pipeline (10). A flexible expandable closing bubble (13) upstream of the closed valve is inserted in the pipeline. The bubble is filled with a pressurizing medium e.g. water. The bubble is expanded, sealed and clamped against an inner wall (10a) of the pipeline, so that the bubble rests against the valve in an expanded condition. An independent claim is also included for a device for temporary closing of a long-distance heating-pipeline.
