The machine has a printing unit (1) for printing a print sheet with a printing ink, and a lacquer mechanism (3) applying a lacquer on the printed sheet. A radiation source (44a, 44b) emitting electromagnetic waves is assigned to the printed sheet in an area of a sheet path (423a), where the emission spectrum of the source covers an absorbing spectral region of ingredients causing oxidative drying of the ink. Another radiation source (45a, 45b) is assigned to the sheet, where the emission spectrum of the source covers the absorbing spectral region of an adhesive agent of the applied lacquer. An independent claim is also included for a method of drying a print sheet in a rotary printing machine.
