<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing nitinol to manufacture instruments for maintaining martensite state at an operating temperature having critical resistance to cyclic fatigue failure. <P>SOLUTION: A method for treating nitinol to train the structure thereof to remain in the martensite state has the step of subjecting the nitinol to a strain, and the step of applying thermal cycle to the nitinol between a cold bath at about 0°C to 10°C and a hot bath at about 100°C to 180°C for a minimum of about five cycles while subjected to strain. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
