<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved device for applying surgical clips to a vessel, a duct, a shunt, or the like during a surgical procedure. <P>SOLUTION: A surgical clip applier includes a housing with a trigger movably coupled thereto and a shaft which extends from the housing and has opposed jaws formed on a distal end thereof. The trigger is formed to advance the clip to position the clip between the jaws, and to move the jaws from an opening position to a closure position to crimp the clip positioned between the jaws. The surgical clip applier can include a variety of mechanisms to facilitate use of the device, including a mechanism to align the clip with the jaws, a mechanism to prevent unintentional migration of the clip, and a mechanism to prevent the clip from falling out during formation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
