POLYPEPTIDE HAVING D-LACTIC ACID DEHYDROGENASE ACTIVITY, GENE ENCODING THE SAME AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING D-LACTIC ACID

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing D-lactic acid having high optical purity by cloning a suitable gene of D-lactic acid dehydrogenase enzyme suitable for D-lactic acid fermentation, transferring the cloned gene into a microorganism not producing lactic acid and expressing the gene.

SOLUTION: D-lactic acid having high optical purity can be produced in high efficiency by a low-cost fermentation without neutralization operation by using D-lactic acid dehydrogenase of Bacillus laevolacticus which is a strain having high D-lactic acid productivity.
