PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and a control method thereof capable of recording photographed image data to the inside of the apparatus and transferring the data to an external device that realize the action in response to an image erasure instruction at quick review. SOLUTION: When the imaging apparatus executes photographing and transferring of the photographed image data at the same time, the imaging apparatus executes at least one or more of an erasure process of the photographed image data, an erasure process of the photographed image data during transfer or not transferred yet, and an erasure process of the photographed image data whose transfer to the external device is completed.
