PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lengthen the cooling time of a coated electric wire in a cooling tank by improving a cooling method in the cooling tank. SOLUTION: In the cooling process of the electric coated wire, the coated electric wire in high temperatures which is obtained right after a core wire is coated with a fused synthetic resin is spirally coiled between a pair of pulleys 101, 102 one or more times, a part of one pulley 101 is dipped in the cooling water stored in the cooling tank together with the coated electric wire, it is then cooled by forcing it into contact with the cooling water, the coated electric wire wetted by the cooling water is forced into contact with outside air, cooling water adhering to it is evaporated, and the running coated electric wire is cooled to a prescribed temperature by its latent heat action.
