摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element which prevents oxidation of an electron injection layer of the organic EL element provided with the electron injection layer and which has high reliability and manufacturing yield, and provide a light emitting device. SOLUTION: A first electrode extraction wiring 12 and a second electrode extraction wiring 13 are formed on a transparent glass substrate 11, and an anode electrode 14 connected to the first electrode extraction wiring 12 is formed. Then, the organic EL layer 18 in which a positive hole transportation layer 15, an electron transportation light emitting layer 16, and the electron injection layer 17 are laminated is formed on the anode electrode 14, and an organic protection layer 19 to cover the electron injection layer 17 is formed. Here, the organic protection layer 19 is composed of an organic material such as a nitrogen-containing condensed tricyclic compound or a nitrogen-containing cyclic compound of layered bond. Then, a cathode electrode 20 is installed on the organic protection layer 19 in connection with the second electrode extraction wiring 13, and the whole is airtightly sealed by a sealing can 22.
