PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abnormality detecting device and an abnormality detecting method of a mechanical contact capable of detecting the abnormality including a contact failure. SOLUTION: In an image forming device, when detecting abnormality of an interlock switch 36 to alternately switch a driving electric power to an image forming part (load 40) to a supply state and a shut-off state in the case a front door is opened, a voltage level of the driving electric power supplied to the load 40 is detected by a detecting circuit 31, and based on transition of a detection result by the detecting circuit 31 in the case switching the driving electric power against the load 40 from the shut off state to the supply state by an interlock switch 36, the abnormality of the interlock switch 36 is determined by a CPU 34.
