PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a nip quantity by lowering material hardness while maintaining heat-resistance without making a fixing apparatus large in size, and to increase a fixation temperature as high as possible, regarding an image forming apparatus equipped with the thermal fixation system fixing apparatus. SOLUTION: The elastic layer of the fixing roller 30 comprises a plurality of layers, the heat-resistant temperature of the inner elastic layer is made higher than that of the outer elastic layer. Alternatively, the thermal conductivity of the inner elastic layer of the fixing roller 30 is made higher than that of the outer elastic layer.
